Our products are biological insecticides
recommended for the control of mosquitoes and forestry pests, in particular
the problematic mosquito species Aedes aegyptii, Culex sp., Anopheles
sp. and the forest pests Thaumatopea pityocampa and Limantria
dispar.
The products are stable bacterial preparations of selected strains
of Bacillus thuringiensis strain H14 (VectoBac®G and
VectoBac®WG) and Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki (DiPel®
8L).
VectoBac is applied against the larval stages which breed in water,
e.g. used as a larvicide. Thus, applications can be limited to the
mosquito breeding sites, which make them more economical and effective.
These products have several advantages compared to chemical pest control:
-
Efficient control at relatively low doses
-
Safe use for operators, no risks for environment
from spills
-
No side effects towards non-target organisms
-
Protection of predator and parasitoid population
can provide additional pest control effect
-
The pests are less likely to become resistant.
Biocontrol is economically competitive with chemical control if the
number of applications, savings of the population for dispensable
insecticide sprays, and environmental benefits are considered
